Thorisstadir is owned by Stefán Tryggvason and his wife Inga M. Árnadóttir. Their children also help running the family business. Inga (1958) is a teacher and also has a degree in norwegian and has degrees as librarian. Stefán (1957) is a forestry farmer and has a candidate degree in agronomy. He creates handcraft from the local forrest in the wintertime. The children are: Jóhanna (1978) kindergarten teacher in Akureyri, Tryggvi (1982) student in biochemistry, Árni (1984) student in tourisim, Þórir (1992) in elementary school and Arnaldur (1996) in elementary school.
